4-H Exchange Program

Four Nova Scotia 4-H members will be travelling to various parts of Canada tomorrow on the Royal Bank of Canada 4-H Interprovincial Exchange Program. Their visits will last until July 20.

The delegates who won the award were selected through an interview process which was based on their 4-H and community involvement.

Will Kerr of Mount Denson, Hants County is travelling to British Columbia. Jeanette Crouse of Cookville, Lunenburg County is being hosted in Alberta. Joanna MacNeil of North Grant, Antigonish County won the travel award to Quebec. Norma McLellan from Oxford, Cumberland County is travelling to Prince Edward Island.

This travel program is designed to provide delegates with the opportunity to experience customs and lifestyles in another province. It also provides a forum to exchange ideas and information on agriculture in their home province.

Agriculture Minister Ed Lorraine praises the program and the sponsor, the Royal Bank for their support of 4-H. He said, "This is an excellent opportunity for 4-H members to develop an understanding and an appreciation of other Canadians while enhancing the public awareness of 4-H."

The Atlantic 4-H delegates travelling to the various parts of Canada celebrate their achievement at a send-off banquet tonight, hosted by Mr. Clayton Coveyduck, senior vice-president of the Royal Bank. Mr. Lorraine will attend and extend congratulations on behalf of the Government of Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia 4-H families will host three delegates, from British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba, at the same time the Nova Scotia 4-H members are in other parts of Canada.
