Transponder Subsidy Ending

The subsidy to purchase the E-Pass transponder for Cobequid Pass will end July 10, 1998.

Since the Cobequid Pass opened in November 1997, the regular $40 purchase price of E-Pass transponders for passenger cars has been subsidized 60 per cent by Atlantic Highways Management Corporation and the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The E-Pass can be purchased by any motorist at the subsidized rate of $15 until 5 p.m. July 10, 1998. After that date, the pass can be purchased for the regular price. Transponders can be purchased at the toll plaza.

The E-Pass is an electronic toll tag that automatically debits toll fares from a user's pre-paid account. Motorists with the E-Pass pay $1.50 for a passenger car toll, compared to the $3 cash rate.
