Construction Begins at Hants East Elementary

The new Hants East Elementary School gets under way June 15, on schedule. Financing and lease details have been completed, and site clearing begins Monday.

"Hants East Elementary will open its doors in September 1999," said Education and Culture Minister Robbie Harrison. He also credited members of the Hants East Education Task Force, the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board and the school community for their hard work and continuing support for the new school.

Mr. Harrison said Hants East Elementary is one of more than 30 schools the province is building over the next several years.

"We're building schools our children need, without adding to the provincial debt. We'll continue to do everything in our power to build urgently-needed schools as quickly as possible."

Hants East Elementary is being built in partnership with the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board and TR3LC Nova. The closing date for the transactions is set for Friday, June 19. Lease details will be made public at that time.
