Discipline for Crown Attorneys
Crown attorneys who participated in a withdrawal of services on June 1 and 2 will not be paid for those days. As well, a letter of reprimand will be placed in each Crown attorney's personnel file.
Martin Herschorn, interim head of the Public Prosecution Service, informed Crown attorneys of the discipline through a letter dated Thursday, June 11. This decision was reached following consultation with Human Resources staff.
Disciplinary measures available to a deputy head of a department or agency of government under Section 9.2.11 of the Human Resource Management Manual 500 are: an oral reprimand, a written reprimand, suspension without pay, and termination of employment.
Mr. Herschorn said the service's focus is on the future and on resolving in a constructive manner the concerns of Crown attorneys. "I encourage all Crown attorneys to work with the management of this service toward resolving their concerns in a productive manner."
