Blasting on 103 Project

Construction continues in the twinning of Highway 103 from Beechville to Upper Tantallon. The Department of Transportation and Public Works advises area residents that they may notice blasting during construction from now until mid-June.

Until June 6, there will be one blast each day. The blasts will occur after 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, and at mid-afternoon Saturday. The public is also advised there may be minor traffic delays during the blasting.

After June 6, smaller blasts of individual rocks will take place at isolated times until approximately June 16.

No blasting will occur after dark or during peak traffic times.

Transportation and Public Works has hired independent consultant Jacques Whitford to monitor the blasting. The department has made every attempt to minimize the disruption caused by construction. However, some inconveniences are unavoidable as work continues toward better roads for Nova Scotia.
