Cape Breton Crafts on Display
The Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design is currently hosting a craft display entitled Cape Breton Crafts. The centre's regional display for 1998, it presents the work of craftspeople with shops or studios in Cape Breton.
The display is part of the centre's continuing Production Crafts Display Program, which allows the public to look at the works of Nova Scotia producers without the pressure to buy. Instead, information on where the products can be bought is made available. The program also provides samples of the range and quality of crafts available in the province.
Cape Breton Crafts promotes a variety of hand-made products such as carved stoneware, a woven coverlet, floral throw pillows, painted vases, colourful silk scarves, cross-stitch kits, iron candle holders and wooden ornaments.
The display includes work from craftspeople from throughout Cape Breton: Alison Mustard, Inverness; Arachne's Loom, St. Joseph du Moine; East Meets East Designs, Sydney; Foxberry Cottage Crafts, Glace Bay; Glass Slipper Fused Glass Creations, Christmas Island; Jasmine Jones, South West Margaree; Ladybug Haven, Baddeck; Piper Pewter, Englishtown; Pipkin's Folk Art, Baddeck; Pottery Garden, West Bay; Production Picasse Ltd., Petit-de-Grat; Spring Tide Pottery, Isle Madame; Suzanne Craig Design, Mabou; The Woodwright, Glace Bay; Turnstone Pottery, Arichat; and Twist of Iron, Sydney.
