Summer Jobs Program Has Double Impact

A $1.5 million summer jobs program that will employ more than 375 Nova Scotia students was announced today by Wayne Gaudet, minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs.

"This is an important and cost-effective initiative" said Mr. Gaudet. "Not only will we be providing financial assistance and training for these students, but housing authorities throughout the province will benefit from a spruce up."

The 16-week program will employ students to provide maintenance, painting and landscaping services for the province's 18 regional housing authorities.

The Student Employment Program is scheduled to run May 19 to Sept.4. Applications are available at regional housing authority offices, Canada and Student Employment Centres and Access Nova Scotia Centres throughout the province.
