Cabinet Meetings Across Nova Scotia

The new cabinet could be meeting in a location near you.

Premier Russell MacLellan said today that he plans to hold cabinet meetings in communities across Nova Scotia.

"One of the benefits of a smaller cabinet is that it's logistically more transportable," said Premier MacLellan. "And so I want to take that opportunity to have cabinet members see more of Nova Scotians' concerns firsthand -- and provide a similar chance for the people of the province to interact directly with their government."

The premier said holding cabinet meetings outside Halifax will also give ministers the opportunity to meet with their regional departmental employees and visit provincial facilities and operations for which they are responsible.

"There's no better way to understand the effect of our decisions, see the need for government action, or hear the concerns of the electorate than to look and listen at the source," said Premier MacLellan.

"Nova Scotians are telling me that instead of reporting on past performances, that they increasingly expect the opportunity to talk directly with their government about the future, and in doing so they want us to witness and understand life in Nova Scotia as they live it day to day. That's exactly what we intend to do."

Dates and locations of the cabinet meetings will be released once details are finalized.
