Early Spring Weight Restrictions

Spring weight restrictions on Nova Scotia roads will go into effect earlier this year than in the past because of continuing milder weather.

The minister of Transportation and Public Works has determined the 1998 spring weight restriction period will begin at 12:01 a.m. on March 1 across the province.

A "public highways spring closing notice" will be published Feb. 28 in newspapers. A list of roads exempted from spring weight restrictions will be published with the notice.

The road exemption list will also be available at district and area officers of the Department of Transportation and Public Works, provincial scale houses, and on the department website at www.gov.ns.ca/tran .

The minister has the right to revise the zones, weight restrictions, dates and the list of roads exempted as conditions warrant.
