National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
For the 11th consecutive year, students, parents and others are celebrating the contributions of teachers and all school staff during National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week from Feb. 8-14.
Sponsored by the Canadian Home and School Federation, and supported by the Department of Education and Culture and the Nova Scotia Federation of Home and School Associations, the week recognizes the personal and professional contributions that all school staff make to the lives of children.
Education and Culture Minister Robbie Harrison and Sandra Himmelman, president of the Nova Scotia Federation of Home and School Associations, acknowledged the importance of Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week by thanking all those who contribute to the education of our children: teachers, secretaries, teacher assistants, guidance counsellors, school nurses, administrators, custodians, bus drivers and countless others.
"National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is a great opportunity for each of us to thank everyone who makes a difference every day in our schools," said Mr. Harrison. "Our schools are among the best in the world because of the thousands of dedicated people who work so hard to ensure that our children receive quality education."
Ms. Himmelman agreed, saying that all Nova Scotians have an interest in our education system. "Children are the most precious resource we have, and we must ensure they have every opportunity to be successful in the future. With so many exciting projects under way in the classrooms around the province, we have many reasons to be proud of our education system."
