PREMIER'S OFFICE--Dartmouth Company Scores Big with Team Canada
Another Nova Scotia company travelling with Team Canada has built a successful marketing partnership in Latin America with the help of the provincial government team.
Survival Systems Group (SSG) of Dartmouth has actively participated with Premier Russell MacLellan to transfer technology to Mexico and Brazil.
"While some of the larger companies have received most of the media attention during this trade mission, young and emerging companies like SSG are really making some major breakthroughs," said Premier MacLellan. "It's good to see this kind of aggressive entrepreneurship being rewarded."
SSG president Scott Morton said Premier MacLellan and his staff have worked directly with SSG to assure the success of a joint venture with the Mexican navy to set up a training facility on the west coast of Mexico.
"The level of hands-on involvement by Premier MacLellan has been the pivotal factor in the success, thus far, of this exciting trade mission. Central and South America offer incredible opportunities for our company," said Mr. Morton.
While in Brazil, Mr. Morton met with the president of Brazil's national oil company, PETROBRAS. The oil company is currently collaborating with Pan Canadian Oil of Calgary, a client of SSG's that receives safety training in Canada. PETROBRAS is seeking guidance from SSG in implementing safety-related training comparable to that currently provided by SSG to clients in Eastern Canada, the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea and Southeast Asia.
SSG is also working closely with the premier in a venture to bring aircraft emergency training and industrial rescue training to the east coast of the United States. SSG is currently building a training facility in Connecticut with the full support of the premier and the governor of Connecticut.
