AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--Marshland Protection Tender Awarded
Agriculture and Marketing Minister Ed Lorraine today announced the awarding of a tender for the supply and placement of quarried rock to protect Annapolis County marshland.
D. J. Lowe (1980) Ltd. of Annapolis Royal submitted the lower of two bids, at $76,978.60, to supply and place 12,180 tonnes of rock along dikes at five locations. The rock will protect the dikes and foreshores from wave damage during storms or high tides.
The Department of Agriculture and Marketing currently maintains 240 kilometres of dikes and 260 aboiteau structures that protect 17,000 hectares of agricultural land, as well as roadways and other important infrastructure.
